THE SINGER c 2000 Roger Himes The Singer gives voice to the mountains The Singer gives voice to the seas The Singer gives voice to the children He gives voice to you and to me. The Singer gives voice to the eagle The Singer gives voice to the wind The Singer gives voice to the sunshine He gives voice to you and to me.
The Singer now is silent But his melodies sing in me The concert he sang is over But his music helps us live free. His journey through this life is over His pathway has led him home But together we carry the message The music he gave us lives on. Though the Singer is silent There still is the truth of the song. His music rings through the heavens His songs are sung by the stars His melodies make love with the breeze And his words find home in our hearts. The Singer now is silent But his songs are his legacy His songs give hope to tomorrow He gives voice to the joy in me.
The Singer gives voice to the oceans He gives voice to falling leaves The Singer gives voice to the flowers He gives voice to you and to me. The Singer gives voice to the praries He gives voice to all who live free The Singer gives voice to the forests He gives voice to you and to me.
The Singer now is silent But his songs are his legacy His songs give hope to tomorrow He gives voice to the joy in me. Yes, his songs give hope to tomorrow He
gives voice to the joy in me. |
I am a lawyer, and a certified pastoral counselor with NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association). Ive been married to the same wonderful woman, Eileen, ever since college days. We have two great daughters, Lisa and Shawn, who are now of course grown, and we have an adopted son, Ralph. We adopted him when he was 13. Lisa and her hubby Steve are directors for Campus Crusade for Christ at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. Shawn also serves the Lord through YWAM, and Caleb Project when she is not working at Starbucks to earn money for her frequent excursions. In my 'B.C.' days I was wild and unpredictable, but God tamed me down. I've always been interested in music (guitar and vocal), and even played and sang with John Denver before he was a household word. This caused me to write a book, and a tribute song to John after he died, and I do a tribute concert: THE SINGER. (www.JohnDenverSinger.com) I have composed several secular songs, some of which are on my John Denver tribute album, but most of my singing and composing today is in the area of worship. In 1971-72, I built my law practice in a very unique way: singing in nightclubs at night and passing out business cards at the breaks. Let me ask: what BETTER place to meet people who need an ATTORNEY? Newspapers dubbed me 'The Singing Attorney,' and 'The Court Jester.' I guess they found it noteworthy, and had never had a lawyer singing in bars before. I became a Christian in October 1975, at a time when Eileen and I were separated. It took God some time, but he restored our marriage, and we even served on staff with MMI (Marriage Ministries International) for a time. I wrote my first Christian book in 1979, published by a conservative Baptist publishing house. It is still a good foundational book, and I still have a few copies of Counselor, State Your Case! We pastored a Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Evergreen, Colorado for two years: 1986-1987, soon after the time the movement pulled away from Calvary Chapel. I was the lawyer who did much of the legal work in this regard, and subsequently pastored one of their churches. Currently we have a desire to do more overseas missions work, but have not found a way to make this work.
It wasn't until 1990 that God took me aside and began showing me the truth of THE GOSPEL according to Paul.
Today, all my writing and teaching is on the practical, powerful truth of living everyday life in the gospel, experiencing a life of love, righteousness, peace and joy. Thus: www.ThePracticalGospel.com
